Go Team!

This year I decided I wouldn't go OTT with the new years resolutions, just because I didnt really want to set myself up for a fall - ambitious eh? I just thought I'd try a bit harder with the things I already strive for.

Blog
I started this blog as a way of sharing things I love, with friends, with strangers, with strangers who became friends. But my shyness gets in the way sometimes. I linger over the publish post button and then press it and panic. I've deleted more than I've posted! So in 2011 i'm gonna man up. I think. No, no. I am.

Body
Part of the shyness comes from not being body confident, I'm a petite curvy girl (aka short and overweight), so who wants to read about the clothes I wear?? Well actually I do, some of my fave blogs are by similar girls, who are great inspiration for someone who doesn't want to look like everyone else actually, thank you very much!

Having said that I'm much more confident when I'm toned, so will be back to the gym, and getting my skates on, literally!

Job
Well, not my actual job, I like my job, don't get me wrong, but it isn't my passion, I haven't always longed to work 9-5 in admin! I have, however always wanted to run my own business, share lovely things with others, and in Nov last year my friend and I started 'Two for Joy vintage' selling vintage clothing and accessories, things have been going nicely so far, but this is the year that we're going to really push it, and I'm very excited!!

So when I saw that Amy from
Wolfwhistle had started TeamBBJ I thought it was a great idea, a fab group of girls supporting each other - all on the same mission. So I've written them down now - no excuses! I even posted my ramblings. Progress indeed!

Treasures

I can't get enough of pretty things, and drag my poor husband round charity shop after charity shop looking for pre-loved items. Somehow the fact that they previously belonged to someone else makes me love them more, like a little peice of history in our home!

A few things that I've purchased recently......

Rose picture, I know there are lots of these about (I have quite a collection!) but they are just so pretty, and although probably mass produced I haven't seen any two the same. This one was £1.50 from our local RSPCA, my fave charity shop!

Peach glass ring dish, I'm a sucker for vintage coloured glass, this came as a set, a glass tray, two little glass trinket boxes with lids, and this lovely ring dish, all for £3.99 from oxfam. Ahhh. I couldn't wait to get home and give them all a place of their own!

The rose trinket box behind the ring dish is from a charity shop in Edinburgh. I'm ashamed to say that it used to have a clock inside the lid, but I had to prize it out one night, after hours of laying awake cos of its loud ticking! Sorry little pot!
Oh, and sorry for the poor pics, the closest I normally get to taking photos are the drunken cheesy ones, and nobody wants to see them!

My Little Magpie

I've had this blog laid out for months, just keep staring at a blank page! I even posted once and then deleted it. I keep making excuses of blogging when I'm less busy, when I've lost weight (for scary outfit photos!!), when I've something more interesting to write about. But then I go about my life as normal, and think that maybe I should just bite the bullet and write about my life, as it is. Normal.

I'm Laurie, 30, living oop north with my lovely husband, and our doggy. I spend too much time dreaming, scouring charity shops for a bargain, and partying, but I wouldn't change a thing!

So here we are, My Little Magpie, where I'll write about my normal life and any treasures I find along the way
